You can earn this certification by appearing for an exam that tests you in specific areas of information security like network and security applications, threat analysis, and risk management. The exam has 90 questions which are multiple-choice questions and you get 90 minutes to complete the exam.

This certification is your stepping stone into the IT security industry, currently, there are 1lakh job listings for Security + certified professionals. You can now work as a Security Analyst, Incident Responder, Penetration Tester, IT Support Technician, etc.
After you clear the exam the certification is valid for three years. You can reappear for the latest version of the exam every three years or get 50 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) by attending various training or acquiring higher certifications.
To renew your certification, you have to follow the continuing education program where you can participate in several activities and training programs to collect at least 50 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in three years or get higher certification like CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), CompTIA Linux+, PenTest+, etc.
You are given a voucher worth $339. With this voucher, you need to visit any CompTIA Store that will provide you with a unique code that you can use to take your test at a Pearson VUE testing center.
If you don’t clear the exam no refunds are given on the fee amount. You will have to buy another voucher to appear for the exam whenever you are ready.
The questions are multiple-choice and you get 90 questions to complete in 90 minutes and you need a score of 750 out of 900.
